There’s very few things more Australian than giving something ‘a proper go’.
Watching our mate Jack’s passion for native Australian ingredients and the way he crafted epically unique, and insanely mouthwatering cocktails and liqueurs, we knew we had to give Australian distilled agave our everything.
But before we jump into that, what is agave?
From Mexico to Australia, agave spirits are as diverse as the places they’re made. Agave spirits all come from the agave plant, that tough, spiky bugger you’ll spot in desert landscapes. From it, you get a whole family of spirits, each with their own flavour and story. Most people know tequila, but it’s only the beginning.
Different types of Agave

Tequila
Made only in Mexico within 5 different states. (mostly Jalisco). Must use blue weber agave.

Mezcal
Produced in several Mexican states.
Can use many agave varieties.

Raicilla
From Jalisco, but distinct from tequila.
Uses wild agave and traditional methods.

Bacanora
From Sonora, Mexico. Uses wild agave and traditional methods.

Sotol
From the desert spoon plant (similar to agave). Mainly from Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila

Australian Agave
Grown & distilled in Australia. Uses different agave varieties (including blue weber) but shaped by Australian terroir.

What Agave Spirit is Beudi?
Each Beudi bottle is fermented, distilled, and bottled in Australia using a 100% blend of Mexican and locally grown Australian Blue Weber Agave. As future local supply grows, our intention and trajectory is to become 100% Australian grown and we are proud and excited to be part of this journey.
Beudi Blanco is to Tequila what sparkling wine is to champagne, it comes down to region.

Why Distil in Australia?
Having honed our skills in the craft brewing scene we know the dedication and obsession it takes to take something from raw ingredient to finished product.
The urge to apply that same mindset and conviction to Agave simply became too strong to resist.
By distilling every Beudi product in Australia and working with local suppliers we have the ability to make small-batch adjustments and respond to each individual run ensuring each bottle of Beudi embodies the very best of our craft.
Owning production here in Australia gives us command over the fermentation which in many ways is the very heart of the spirit. Our unique approach to yeasts and bacteria allows us to fine-tune the agave's character before it even touches the still.
Through distillation, we then transform all that goodness into something truly "extraooordinary!" as Blinky Bill would say.
We aren't trying to be Tequila and that’s the Beudi of it. By using native Australian ingredients like Sunrise Lime and Desert Lime and distilling right here, we hero the best of Australian terroir - giving Beudi its unique Aussie flavours.
